The Hearers Website
If the hippies borrowed country in the late '60s, then the Hearers have placed it in the hands of the alternative avant-garde, who — though well acquainted with mandolins, pedal steel and lilting melodies — are just as likely to growl, spin out ambient noise textures or just leave the space empty as try anything resembling a popular song.

The Sleepy KissersWebsite
The Sleepy Kissers are driven by the drunken speed and reckless spirit of The Stooges. They are inspired by the drug haze of the Velvet Underground and motivated by the loose approach of the Rolling Stones.
The Porn Again Christians Website
It’s resurrection time, dickheads. From the fetid bloody ashes of Swampass and frictionmachine rises the mutant phoenix of PORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS. Their influences are the usual suspects—Stooges, Dolls, MC5, Jesus Lizard, AC/DC, Antiseen---you know the drill. But that’s just to give you context. Recordings are certainly in the near future plan of domination, but right now the only way to be saved and damned is to see them live and full of piss—if you dare. What you will witness onstage is a soul-rape completely of their own device: a new flavor of full throttle, cherry-busting, ass-plowing, fuck you up rock and roll. And that, brothers and sisters, is all that matters in the end.
Bad Vibes Website
We're a rock'n'roll/blues power trio based in Chicago.
((That is the description on their website...what they don't say is that they fucking ROCK and have a truly kickass show. Everytime they play my stage they walk away with some new and devoted fans...elle))
Disliking Silence Website
Dilsiking Silence has many faces, as we all do. Some of our music is pepped up indie pop and then some is droned out heavy rock... some is hair raising punk anthems and then some are quiet, quilted poems. Don’t be too quick to judge, all you haters out there. It just might not be the face you’re familiar with but when it’s all said and done you can count on one thing with this band; match you drink for drink, joke for joke, line for line but won’t run off with your mom to Vegas. Guaranteed a good time, all you noise lovers better listen up...

The Pickpockets Website
The Pickpockets are heralded for creating concise pop songs with innately agreeable melodies and lyrics that are informed by boundless cynicism and humorously passive-aggressive attitude. The inflammatory consensus is that the Pickpockets sound like Natalie Merchant fronting the Replacements, if: a) Natalie Merchant was even remotely not naseau-inducing; b) Westerberg had somehow grown up listening to the Smiths and the Jesus and Mary Chain instead of the Faces and Thin Lizzy; and c) Evan Dando was in the band, too, but not always stoned.

| Nyahbinghi Elder - RAS PIDOW TRIBUTE |
|
Nyahbinghi Elder - RAS PIDOW TRIBUTEWebsite
..
Ras Pidow (1931-2001) is considered one of the first supporters of the Rastafari movement, and is hailed as "the Recognised Elder of the Rainbow Throne of the Nyahbinghi Theocratic Order".
In the 50s and 60s Rastafari were considered outcasts in Jamaican society and are still reviled by the upper classes. Ras Pidow's lifelong loyalty to the teachings of Rastafari resulted in him joining a group of Rastafarians on a mission to "spread the word of Jah", that resulted in an acclaimed appearance in 1989 at the Smithsonian Institute. Throughout the late 80s and early 90s the group toured the USA, which included a celebrated performance at the Smithsonian's National Folk Festival where Pidow was the prominent performer. Bongo Shep, Ras Marcus, Ras Headful, Ras Tawny, Ras Bigga and Sista Bubbles, who performed collectively as the Rastafari Elders, accompanied him.
Born 1931 in Kingston, Jamaica, Ras Pidow was one of the first in the movement of Rastafari. Although scorned and reviled by society for praising His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I as the almighty, growing the locks of the head as the holy covenant and using the ganja plant as a spiritual sacrament, Ras Pidow has endured as a living testament that good must conquer evil and love must be the law that governs humanity.
As a recognized elder of the Haile Selassie I Nyahbinghi Order Theocracy Reign, Ras Pidow and fellow elders through the power of His Imperial Majesty and the assistance of the Smithsonian Institution made pilgrimage to America in 1989; their mission was to spread the truth of Rastafari and to universally expand peace, love, and overstanding.
After travelling nationally and performing at the Smithsonian's National Folk Festival, the elders recieved positive response from the people and the press, including The Washington Post .
In 1991 the elders recorded an album entitled Rastafari Elders (RAS records). This collection of holy chants, Nyahbinghi drumming and upfull reasonings, was Ras Pidow's first recording. The album earned internation acclaim for its powerful and uplifting vibrations.
The Centenary Year of His Imperial Majesty, 1992 yielded Modern Antique (RAS records), Ras PIdow's solo debut, the album recieved praise from public and press as well, including The Beat , the most popular magazine in the realm of reggae music. Modern Antique is the revelation of the fullness of Ras Pidow as storyteller, dub poet, teacher and priest. Combining the ancient Nyahbinghi drums, word, sound, and power with the contemporary riddims of roots reggae (provide by the legendary Roots Radics), it is a glimpse into the 'Ancient Future', a place where new and old are united as one. Ras Pidow addresses wickedness and injustice in "Apartheid", global misdirection in "Whole World Wrong", and pays tribute to the mother of mankind - "Afrika".
In the summer of '92 Ras Pidow toured the east coast with D.C.'s Soul Defenders which was highlighted at the Africare benefit concert for Somalia in Washington.
Thru out the years, Ras Pidow has made special appearances with Jah Levi and the Higher Reasoning including a stop at New York City's Wetlands, On July 4th Ras Pidow and brethren made a showing at the NORML smokeout, a concert for the legalization of Marijuana. "If herb is a crime then God is a criminal" chanted Ras Pidow to the blazing lickshots of the Nyahbinghi drums before the enthusiastic crowd of supporters.
Ras Pidow couldn't sit still. After performing with Burning Spear, the Itals, Culture, and appearing on television and radio interviews across the country, the Ras was always ready to bring his message of hope, salvation, and truth to the people. With the backing of his own driving dub band, the music is modern. "My goal is to bring forth togetherness worldwide through poem, word, and song. Love, joy, and happiness as children of one father. Yes, reality. Reality, redemption, and Love to the world."
Ras Pidow continued to spread the message of Rastafari world-wide, changing people's lives wherever he went. Ras Pidow left his body, passed on from this world on March 20, 2001. His Lion Spirit continues to uplift and enlighten souls everywhere.

Dr. Don and the Boogie Monsters is a quickly evolving music machine, spreading throughout Chicagoland and beyond. The Fuz is a growing rock and roll powerhouse that has been tearing through the Midwest for the last four years. With an arsenal of unique psychedelic originals and clever cover songs, their shows create a war zone of sound, intensity, and entertainment. Alternating instruments, Chris De Rosa and Brian Adams both enjoy ground rumbling bass playing as well as face melting guitar playing, which gives The Fuz a broader range of tonality and style. Jim Wallwin’s thunderous drumming serves as the backbone for the band, and Dave Campbell’s melodic guitar playing drives them into uncharted musical waters.

Jet Lag GeminiWebsite
Record Breakers meeting!! Win Prizes! Food/Refreshments! ALL AGES!
In many ways, Jet Lag Gemini are early bloomers. While the New Jersey-based band met and formed while still in their early teens during high school, one wouldnt suspect youth or a lack of experience from their mature and polished sound. Representing three countries between them, lead singer/rhythm guitarist, Misha Safonov (22), emigrated from Russia in 1993, lead guitarist, Vlad Gheorghiu (18) and his brother and bass player, Matt Gheorghiu (20), came to the U.S. seven years ago from Romania. Rounding out the band, drummer Dan Diliberto (18), the lone non-immigrant of the group, grew up in New Jersey.
The bands first EP, Business (Doghouse Records 2006), with its playful and classic rock leanings, merely hinted at things to come. Jet Lag Geminis knack for blending the energy of more abrasive bands with great pop hooks and hair-raising guitar solos, has won them countless fans both locally and nationwide. This culminated in several national tours including dates on the Vans Warped Tour, as well as playing with Hellogoodbye, The Almost, the Matches, Halifax, and others.
The fiery opener, Run This City, from the bands debut album, Fire The Cannons, demonstrates its unusual flare for dramatic melodies. Led by Misha's commanding voice, Vlad's unrelenting guitar heroics, and Matt and Dans driving rhythm, the album packs a powerful punch.
The firing of the cannons signifies both the beginning and end of the battle, says Jet Lag Gemini frontman, Misha Safonov. Fire The Cannons traces the steps in the battle of self acceptance. These songs are about changes, loss of friendships and the dreaded arrival of responsibilities you face in the roller coaster days known as growing up. While these songs are very personal,
I think we've managed to make an album that anyone can relate to.

Though primarily classified as a reggae group, The Drastics embrace many styles of music both live and in the studio. This can be heard in their songs which draw from roots Jamaican music, hip hop, hard-bop jazz, afro-beat, dancehall, as well as folk music from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America. Take this powder keg cocktail of styles, add the pulse of gritty everyday urban living and you get one explosive sound. 2Girls Listen
A unique synthesis of the old and the new, the gospel set forth by these fellows initially brings to mind the pop-rock sensibilities of T-Rex. A discerning ear will also take note of the indie-rock aesthetic and its affinity for the angular, at times reminiscent of The Jesus Lizard or Giant’s Chair. And the raw soul and trashiness of a whole lineage of deviant blues-rock bands from Blue Cheer to Queens of the Stone Age is smartened up by a smattering of the mischeivous demeanor and unorthodox arrangements of other progressives, occasionally approximating the drones and tangents of Yes or XTC.
Arsonick Scum Website
ArsoNick Scum is a guy that gets ideas, records them in audio format, then performs them in public. The performance is prone to be unconventional many times. I do lots of things. My interests are broad and broads. I am the middle child of an artist and a salesman. I play a lot of the stuff on my recordings, but a lot of the stuff is played by friends who are better at what I needed, or parts are sampled.

The Red Tie AffairWebsite
The Red Tie Affair are a working class band from the suburbs of Chicago. Many bands of their genre are often labeled as "emo", but these bands forget all too often that there are more emotions than happy or sad. The Red Tie Affair's music couples lament with ebullience, anxiety with fragility. Their lyrics are metaphoric journeys placing life experience into carefully crafted stanzas.
Chief Website
Three friends who've been in bands for years and finally realized that's it's time to do what really matters-to take off the gloves and do it with raw fists, to strap on the gauntlets and tame the dragon, to carry the torch once lit by the rock warriors, to just plain ol' kick some rock and roll ass...to show the world that 'we are CHIEF, and this is how we do it.'

Grunge/Rock influenced by hilarious 6 syllable questions and answers, the word skatebearding, sassy copperheads, the question: "can i buy one beer to go?"
Dr. Killbot Website
Dr. Killbot is the self-professed king of Electro-Nerd-Punk. Now we aren't talking Weezer's "I'm gonna take my best girl out for sodas" kind of nerdy. No, we're talking the badass "Give me the Bellman-Ford algorithm before I bust your face open!" kind. Armed with drums, guitars, keyboards and accordion, this band pelts the listener with unrelenting songs that may leave weaker-minded people susceptible to its apocalyptic messages. How can one band be so devastating? It's probably the songs. Luring in the casual listener with catchy off-beat melodies dealing with subjects like organ theft, lycanthropy, nanotechnology, and exposing one's self in front of a dean of admissions, this band sinks its hooks into unsuspecting victims with frightening speed.
Born Again Floozies Website
A voluptuously surreal performance: the rhythm section is two tap dancers and a tuba, the singer plays guitar the way most people play the piano. Steve Albini described them as "...a rock band with extras, but thats comically understated--kind of like saying Franz Liszt only waltzed." But Triple R Records calls them "Fellini-esque songmongers".
We're SONGMONGERS! Slingin' songs like so many dead fish...

Crawl Website
CRAWL was born out of a set break at a Chicago jazz venue, when the three musicians backing a great local jazz vocalist decided that they really enjoyed each other’s unique approach, and wanted to advance that into a setting that actually highlighted each of their unique playing abilities to create an original, instrumental project. Of course, as any musician knows, talk like this is always present on gigs - its usually a great way to seal the deal on a networking opportunity in order to make sure the calls keep coming. Well, this one only took a year of talk before it was put into action.

iNFiNiEN Website
Infinien combines eclectic and seemingly disparate musical personalities into a visionary, unified sound. Each artist in the band brings different levels of experience from varied backgrounds; as such their sound is not marginalized by genre constraints. The band's aesthetic comes together like puzzle pieces, each member realizing the possibilities of extending beyond a practical view of music and establishing a personal connection with it. Infinien mixes many different musical styles together, taking influences from rock, classical, jazz, world, and many others. The band uses these eclectic influences to bring the listener on a musical adventure evocative of specific times and places. This is achieved through the use of uncommon harmonies and chord progressions in conjunction with vivid, colorful melodies, changing odd meter times, unusual scales, and hard hitting deep grooves.
