GET UP WITH THE GET DOWNS
Since 2008, Get Up with the Get Downs have been performing hits from the Golden Age of Funk for thousands of Chicagoans. While the eight-piece band bases their set on the hits of James Brown, they often slip in more obscure tunes from the likes of Mitch Mitchell and Renaldo Domino, demonstrating their love and knowledge of the era. Concentrating solely on live performance, each show is a high energy dance party that evokes “The Hardest Working Man in Show Business.”
Gashcat is a fuzzed-out folk trio made up of a raucous, carnivalesque collective of friends based out of Louisiana. They have been touring coast to coast for the last two years, playing with bands such as Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Dum Dum Girls, and Father John Misty. With multiple features on NPR’s All Songs Considered and a key showcase at SXSW 2012, the band has been raising eyebrows across the country.
