THE GODDAMN GALLOWS
The Goddamn Gallows formed in 2004 by founding members and Lansing/Detroit natives Mikey Classic on guitar and vocals, Fishgutzzz on upright bass, and Amanda Kill on drums -replaced by current drummer Uriah Baker (aka; “Baby Genius”) in 2006. The trio started out migrating around the West for a time, holing up in Hollywood squats and squalid apartments, before releasing several albums: The Gallows EP (2004), Life of Sin (2005), and Gutterbilly Blues (2007), and finally hitting the road nearly full-time to establish their presence in the psychobilly-country scene while honing their self-described “twanged-out punk rock gutterbilly”. In 2009 the addition of Avery, a fire-breathing, accordion and washboard player, as well as Jayke Orvis (formerly of the .357 String Band) on mandolin and banjo, prompted The Goddamn Gallows to explore many new directions with their songwriting and in their live performances. As evidenced on their most recent 2009 album, Ghost of The Rails, and as witnessed by their spectacular and tireless live shows, The Goddamn Gallows began to forge a path founded on their very own brand of contagious primeval abandon: an unpretentious and from-the-gut carnivalesque smorgasbord of parts old time revival, circus sideshow, and good old-fashioned rock and roll. The result falls dead center into a head on collision between something like a Western honky-tonk impromptu parking lot rodeo, and Suburbia (the 1983 Penelope Spheeris cult classic film, not the location).
Since the fearsome four formed in 2007, American Speedway released their debut album SHIP OF FOOLS with the hit single “One Foot In, One Foot Out” which charted within the Top 5 on Sirius Radio Punk Charts for 5 months straight. Their debut full-length was released on Prophase Music in 2008, distributed by MVD Entertainment Group.
For the week of Nov. 11, 2008, the title track was added to several commercial and college radio stations making “Ship of Fools” #5 Most Added according to FMQB. “Ship of Fools” charted at #36 on CMJ’s Hard Rock Select Chart the following week.
In Fall 2010, the first single “Howl (Ya Doin?)” from their up coming new album, A BIGGER BOAT, was released on 7″ Vinyl along with a live rendition of “20th Century Boy” (Marc Bolan & T-Rex).
The release of A BIGGER BOAT on April 26, 2011 brought the band additional success with singles “Lonely River”, “Get Off The Cross” and “I Killed Laura Palmer” added to regular rotation on many commercial and college specialty Metal Radio Shows throughout the Nation.
They have toured with Tesco Vee and The Meatmen, The Supersuckers, and direct support with The Bronx, Valient Thorr, The Supersuckers, Mike Watt, Joe Buck and The Goddamn Gallows to name a few. They have established a fan base of thousands, won over several booking agents, promoters and venues, and is regarded as one of the best live “real” rock & roll bands in America. Their performance is really where it’s at.
THE HANG UNION
“The Hang Union is a counter-cultural industrial folk rock band from Chicago, Illinois created by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Carter Grant. He’s been writing and recording all the instruments for hundreds of his songs since as early as 2005.
For The Hang Union live shows, CG has most frequently played upright bass and sang, occasionally moving to guitar and other miscellaneous instruments, with Mike “Stonewall” Sebo on banjo, Hub on guitar and bells, S.M. Browning on shakers, tambourine and cacophonous noise, and Jon Tuminaro on drums.. Often included are broken and nearly inoperable instruments like saxophone, cornet and accordion. The Hang Union includes a revolving door of satellite members providing various accompaniment.
The several albums available on streaming services (bandcamp, youtube) are just a small presentation of what Carter and the Hang Union have created, and no two albums sound the same.”
“Dangerous bad ass boys have the guts to blend the best of late 70’s glam, 80’s Hollywood sleaze, and the Motor City’s musical early heavy sounds.”
