Paris Schutz has been playing, writing, and singing music as long as he’s been talking. His debut recording, “The Terminal EP” features concert favorite “The Terminal Song” – about a man going through the different stages of coming to grips with a terminal disease. It also features the songs “Hyde Park Mother” and “Marisa.” His songs evoke characters, stories, and try to get to the bottom of themes we can all relate to – like love, loss, redemption, acceptance, and the gap that persists between perception and reality. He has performed locally at the Abbey Pub, Beat Kitchen, Reggies, Uncommon Ground, Subterranean, and Fitzgeralds. He is also a composer for television and the web, having scored a few web commercials and the WTTW program “IL-Informed.” A new composition will soon be the theme for WTTW’s nightly news program “Chicago Tonight.” During the day, Paris is a broadcast reporter for that program. He has performed with many great artists and bands, including Rolling Stones and former Miles Davis bass player, Daryl Jones. As a kid, he appeared in local theater, including Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and as part of the children’s chorus for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. He is classically trained on the piano, but taught himself blues, jazz, folk, rock, and pop. His music encompasses all of those styles, and is sometimes upbeat, sometimes contemplative…but always catchy.
