THE OBSCENE KISS

The earliest beginnings of what would come to be The Obscene Kiss manifested in the late summer of 2011. Michael X. Christian and Dorian Starchild were the founding members of this industrial metal act from Chicago in which they began by rehearsing Marilyn Manson covers and a handful of songs written by MXC. The band’s first performance was at a bar called Horseshoe on March 24th, 2012- they opened for Lockjaw at a release party for Ministry’s album, Relapse. The Obscene Kiss went virtually inactive over the following summer but during this time, a goal was set for recording a set of professionally produced songs. The group amicably parted ways with bassist, Zack Shirtum who had expressed a desire to pursue other avenues of creativity. This opening led to the inclusion of instrumentalist and producer, Nikk Skum on bass. Following a return to regular rehearsal, The Obscene Kiss found themselves sharing the stage with Pound of Flesh and Project 44 at The Bottom Lounge and with them again, along with W.O.R.M. at Martyr’s in early 2013. This return to the stage served to usher in the band’s new material and subsequently new sound. With the Human Extinction EP currently in the works and more shows lined up for the Spring and Summer- The Obscene Kiss is poised to burn the human species in the coming year…
