Modern sophistication, futuristic class, and unapologetic originality are all elements that complete the composition that is Singer/Songwriter/Instrumentalist Angéle Anise. The migrating mademoiselle, never without pen and pad and ever filled with song, is a self-proclaimed Yankee-Fried Southern Belle who combines her lifelong gift of vocals, a 10 year obsession with Piano, and the abstract exploration of guitar to share her most melodic emotions. Ethereal yet electric, Angéle Anise musically ventures to indelibly impress upon listeners new realms of chordal expression that buoys universal, yet poetic themes of Love, Loss, and PostModern Life as it unfolds today.
Born in the enchanting heart of Cajun Country- Lafayette, Louisiana, Angéle Anise’s predisposed nature of gripping items as microphones foretold of her life’s long musical journey. Always a reticent, yet willing performer, she entertained early in dance, acting, and choral work. Yet, it wasn’t until the daring of her parents that she auditioned and was accepted to Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (Alums: Erykah Badu & Norah Jones), and her entire world was changed.
It was here that she was educated in the value of protecting and flourishing in one’s Art as she both learned and produced her own works. High SAT scores and practicality lead to her choosing a collegiate route (Columbia College, ’09 Advertising), but not without an anticipated exit that ended in music. Not one for regret though, Angéle Anise’s “Real World” experience as an 80’s Baby in limbo with the American Dream, is what propelled her to move from the beauty of Hyde Park, Chicago, to the grind of Brooklyn to pursue her passion in Sonic Fusion.
Aretha, Alanis, Brandy, Bjork, Electro, Soul, & Arena Rock are the essences that appear in Angéle Anise’s work, though never masking her uniquely engaging voice or dynamic compositions. With nearly a decade worth of original material to pull from, the Soul Siren is currently recording her first EP “in EasternStandardTime.” As no stranger to brave endeavors, Angéle Anise is boldly poised to illuminate the scene and establish herself as the forerunner in the (r)evolution of the Future of Soul.
