WE ARE THE UNION
Unhappy with the current state of ska music, We Are The Union decided to stick out their own necks and tried to change things for the better in the summer of 2005. Getting a paycheck is not on their agenda. Instead of following typical ska punk conventions, WATU takes a harder-nosed approach to the genre. With influences ranging from Philadelphia/New Jersey favorites Lifetime and Kid Dynamite, to bands like Slapstick and This Is A Standoff, they rage with the best of them while still retaining a heightened sense of melody.
Ultrahazard is a Chicago-based political punk band. We stand for unity and equality. We sing about topics ranging from feminism, solidarity among artists, class war, roller derby, and revolution. All four of us come from different musical backgrounds such as Riot Grrrl, Jazz, Punk, and Reggae but our music sounds like a mix of Star Fucking Hipsters, Bomb! The Music Industry, The Distillers, and We Are the Union.
We mix a bunch of things. Punk-Hardcore-Reggae-Ska.
SOMETHING TO DO
“Something To Do: They are the sweat-soaked t-shirt you peel from your skin when you get home. They are the cramp in your leg when you wake up in the morning. They are the ringing in your ears that lingers on for days. Something To Do (S2D) keeps ska alive with their ultra-catchy sound that fans enjoy without any concern for how they’ll feel the next day.”
