THE DERBYS Website
Formed through certain members of previous rock bands ranging from punk, hardcore, blues and experimental.
MAD MINUTE Website
Mad Minute formed while serving time together in Joliet Prison. Not permitted to use electrical instruments, the songs were orignaly written and performed in the yard using a pair of toothbrushes, a can of gasoline, an old toilet seat, several dozen rubber-bands and their imaginations. Once their respective paroles came through, they re-formed and tried recreating this unique sound in the Chicago club scene, but after a series of disasterous shows (one involving a full scale riot resulting in the fatality of a minor) they realized that it didn't seem to work as well when they weren't drinking fermented toilet wine, so they elected to move to electric instruments.
THUNDERUNDERUS Website
We were once adored by the gods. Then they became jealous of our abilities and cast us from the heavens to Chicago. With our immortality taken from us, we must melt faces and consume souls to stay alive.
VILE DISPLAY OF HUMANITY Website
Vile Display of Humanity is a band whose sound is old and new at the same time, like a 2-headed snake eating itself alive. It can’t be, but it is. The brutally raw rhythm underlies melodic lead guitar and powerful lyrics that make you wonder how something so fresh and original wasn’t created thirty years ago.

VITALLIGHT
VITALLIGHTWebsite
Self-described as having a little rock, electronica and ambient in their style. They've been working for months in preparation for an EP they hope to unleash in December.
THE ABILITY Website
These guys sound like skinny jeans and straight hair. These four friends came together for the passion of writing and playing music - and that is exactly what they do best.
THE NEW DIET Website
This Chicago band takes their cues from some of the better power-pop-punk from the 90s. Nice and catchy, and none of that self-conciously nerdy obnoxiousness you think of when someone says "think Weezer and Cheap Trick".

reMODERN
reMODERNWebsite
reModern is a five piece all original alternative/progressive project That combines catchy, complex guitar melodies, groovy basslines, dynamic drum work, and deep hypnotic vocals to form an energetic and melodic sound. The music ranges from being whisper quiet to in your face and loud. The band was born in Chicago where they have already begun to make their mark. With hopes to share their music with as many audiences as possible, reModern jumps to play at every given opportunity.
RYANS HOPE Website
Submission is nowhere in our plan, declares guitarist/vocalist Terry Morrow on End Is Here, the opener of Ryans Hopes new album Apocalypse In Increments, and it couldnt be truer for the Chicago trio. Formed in 2002 as a pop-punk band of metalheads sick of that scene, the group have grown into so much more: Theyre a songwriting machine pumping out melodic punk-metal gems. This band will not let up until everyone knows their name.
PAR AVION Website
Those in the know, most of whom don't know who they are or what they know, seem to believe that Par Avion began approximately three months ago, with the strange and inexplicable appearance of a frighteningly large hovering tabby cat above a rather dreary and unremarkable village in Illinois. Following this odd occurrence, cats across several counties could be seen to act most abnormally, and there surfaced several unconfirmed reports of two unusual individuals producing classical music at obscene volume levels during strange hours of the night. Several residential areas fell victim to damages resembling those of nuclear shock waves, and, according to at least one crackpot conspiracy theorist, the government was involved. In actuality, a rookie police investigator and many boxes of donuts were involved, but these soon disappeared, and in the strangest development yet, the oddly behaving cats began to converge. Soon, people of the surrounding counties became obsessed with two strange words in what appeared to be another language. The language was French, and the words were Par Avion. The afflicted citizens began to converge as well, until there existed in a rather dreary and unremarkable part of Illinois a veritable army of felines and persons, united beneath a singular goal, of which most of them had absolutely no knowledge. Who would lead them? That's correct, dear readers. Par Avion would lead them, three quirky individuals and many boxes of donuts. And the rest, as they don't usually say, unless they are Par Avion, is fancy-shmancy.
PROJECT:THREEVILLE Website
feaAccording to Alternative Press Magazine (August 2006 issue, unsigned band of the month): "Project: Threeville's sound is unique, to say the least, with driving riffs and heavily sardonic lyrics aimed at the music industry, accentuated by perfect vocal harmonies and an operatic feel making each song seem massiveturing 3 ex-members of The Evil Us's.
THE ALAYA CONSCIOUS Website

BUTTERFLY ASSASSINS
BUTTERFLY ASSASSINS Listen
There have been many wars fought over this very question. But here's our take: our sound is like that of a Steinway piano. There is a very dark side and a very bright side, dynamic contrast, and some may even say beauty. We have subtle jazz and classical influences, melodic and bitter catchy vocals, strong guitar riffs, intricate piano parts, and a range of complexity throughout our songs. We have some songs with few chords, and some that are so intricate that fans have not been able to figure out what we are doing. Luckily we know. Overall, we like to keep our music driving and filled with emotion, whether that may be happy, sad, angry, perturbed, or just taking a load off.
THE OBSTACLES Website
Influenced by video games and alcohol.
CAVASHAWN Website
Growing up as childhood friends, the members of Cavashawn have experienced everything together. That includes but is not limited to: rain, MySpace, Jenga, and Steely Dan. They have also managed to open for acts like John Mayer, One Republic, and Better Than Ezra. Through college the guys played music together under the name Marking Twain, all the while gaining years of experience and a large loyal fan-base across the Midwest. Now these twenty-two year olds are preparing for the January release of their self-titled EP, their most concentrated effort to date.

Super catchy power pop with equal emphasis on power and pop. Like a cross between Cheap Trick and Elvis Costello, Boss Martians have killer hooks, hot riffs and tasty keyboards.
THE LEFTOVERS Website
The Leftovers play punk influenced rock n' roll with lots of power pop goodness referencing bands like The Queers, The Romatics, and (of course) The Ramones.
THE UPTONS Website
Forged from a strikingly similar crucible as The Broadways, The Uptons play socially concious yet very personal, punk rock with a touch of humor and dare I say...class.
THE HOLLYWOOD NIGHTMARES Website
The Hollywood Nightmares play fast and furious pop punk in the vein of Screeching Weasel, The Queers, and Squirtgun. Hailing from Woodridge, Illinois these kids harken back to a time when punk rock meant bubblegum, Chuck Taylors, and leather jackets.
THE REAL CHIRSTS Website
The Real Christs are the four true sons of the Lord. They are here as the saviors of punk. Their songs will take you to the promised land, a land where the rivers flow of beer and the air is music. Do you have the discipline to let them lead you to salvation? Stay tuned for your New Commandments!

A FRIEND CALLED FIREWebsite Listen
Muse hanging out with Strata and Social D., while on the phone with Sevendust, Breaking Benjamin and Clutch who just left a party at System of a Down's house that was just crashed by Mute Math in a rebellious frenzy. Or something.
ELEMENTS OF STYLE Website Listen
The Elements of Style perform music broadly categorized as “rock & roll.” If you passed the Elements of Style on the street, you might smile or nod your head in polite acknowledgement. If you did not know that the Elements of Style were a band that performed rock & roll music, you might think that they were average taxpayers with jobs and girlfriends. You might equate the unremarkable appearance of the Elements of Style to an unremarkable character. You might be right. But the Elements of Style are also a rock & roll band. And in that context, the Elements of Style are not at all unremarkable.

BURY ME AT MAKEOUT CREEK
BURY ME AT MAKEOUT CREEKWebsite
A sexy, saucy, and down-right good lookin' rock band from Chicago.
THE IVORYS Website
We are a rock and roll band from Chicago. We play original "classic rock with a new spin." We are a trio of seniors in high school that are hoping to get signed before college. Three years ago, after much garage rock psychedelic jamming, we took the name of The Ivorys. Since this time, we have progressed from playing open mics to playing prominent venues such as The Rave, The Beat Kitchen, Subterranean, U.S Beer Company, Excalibur Nightclub, and The Note. Four of those venues are 21+, a major accomplishment for an underage band.
FAIR HERALD Listeners of all genres have found favor in Fair Herald’s straightforward yet seasoned approach to rock, a sound embracing undertones of alt-country and experimental vibes alike. Held together by solid, groove-able rhythms, their refined and intertwining melodies regularly engage a lively audience
THE RED PEACE Website Listen
The Red Peace is an original acoustic/electric rock band headquartered in Chicago. They combine an eclectic mix of indie, pop, and acoustic guitar with a funky, bluesy backbeat, a past meets present style that almost anyone can find appeal in.
PHILOSOPHY CLUB Founded in December of 2007, Philosophy Club is an experimental, rock project based in the desolate Chicago suburb of Orland Park. Very little is known about the group other than that it is comprised of multi-instrumentalists Kevin Daley and Zack Segel. It is rumored that the duo fears women with beards, though that has yet to be confirmed.

THE DIPLOMATS OF SOLID SOUND
THE DIPLOMATS OF SOLID SOUNDWebsite Listen
Move on up to the bandstand folks and get ready to behold the undeniable groove of the ambassadors of instrumental soul The Diplomats of Solid Sound. Tune into the hard stepping funky action of these dance floor scientists. Originally derived from the primordial ooze of Booker T and the MG\'s and the lounge surf of The Ventures, the Diplomats’ live sets include originals, classy standards, soul shouters, and laid back infectious grooves. They have shared the stage with acts like Southern Culture on the Skids, Jonathan Richman, The Delta 72, The Sadies, Big Sandy and his Fly-Rite Boys, and The Woggles to name a few.
THE DEL MOROCCOS Website
The Del Moroccos are a powerful new 8 piece Rock n' Roll band (guitar, bass, drums, piano, tenor/bari sax, and 3 sexy frontwomen) who put out an awesome full-length show of dirty 50's rock, R&B material with girl group vocals. Knock the Ronnettes and Link Wray together, with a blast of 60's garage, a hit of late '50s black rock n' roll, dress 'em up like Johnny Cash, and you get a raucous, mean mix of "'50s garage". The members are veteran Chicago musicians from the surf, ska, rockabilly, jazz and R & B scenes, from bands including: Mighty Blue Kings, Four Charms, Deals Gone Bad, The Stranger, Kevin O'Donnell's Quality 6,Reluctant Aquanauts and Honeybees. The Del Moroccos lead guitar player Boss Shadow, aka Jimmy Sutton, hand picked the line up for this relentless new sound. The Del Moroccos set list features choice selections of obscure, rockin' early independent label songs and wild originals, capturing the sound of the 50's played with the heart of 60's Stax and Motown and the emotion of early punk and mod revival. New on the scene, the Del Moroccos have opened for the Queen of rockabilly, the legendary Wanda Jackson.
THE STACKS Website
With surf rock influenced guitar, The Stacks bring a whole lot of soul into their songs.

THE QUEERS
THE QUEERSWebsite Listen
Sometimes they are mistaken for a queercore band like labelmates Pansy Division, but one listen to the Queers' adolescent-boy-who-never-grew-up lyrics ("She’s got no tit," "I'm really goo-goo over you/I'm mentally retarded too," "She's my Burger King Queen," etc.) will dispel that misconception. While some of their songs border on sexism and homophobia, they are simply too goofy and good-natured to mean any harm with their left-back-four-grades, dumb-ass shtick.
LEMURIA Website
Girl vocals, leggings, and boys with skinny jeans and button down shirts. All the things that make the luminous sound of indie powerpop band Lemuria. They are good, damn good in fact, proud sons and daughters of Buffalo, NY. They get lots of Discount comparisons, and it's not totally unfounded, but with all due
respect to the late Gainesville franchise, Lemuria have got them beat. Sheena Ozzella sounds a lot like Velocity Girl's Sarah Shannon, and there's more than a little bit of Fifth Hour Hero in the mix as well.
BOMB THE MUSIC INDUSTRY Website
Bomb the Music Industry! is the BOMB!... Are you even allowed to say that anymore? Bomb? Of course you are, this isn't an airport, or a movie theatre, and really there is no other way to describe this skacore sound. Take your average ska band, press fast forward, add ridiculousness and bells and there you have it, a pipe bomb - otherwise known as the sound of the band, Bomb The Music Industry!
ANDREW JACKSON JIHAD Website
Andrew Jackson Jihad have displayed an uncanny ability to produce experimental folk-punk while keeping the music accessible enough to satisfy a wide range of listeners. Fans of Ghost Mice, This Bike is a Pipe Bomb and good songwriting in general should not overlook this band.
KEPI Website
Punks have all the fun and this band proves it. With a sound that resembles the Ramones - Kepi the band sounds like a good time hanging out with friends in your neighbors basement.

SHOT BAKER Website Listen
Shot Baker plays an honest form of aggressive punk rock with driving melodies and addictive choruses. Reinforced by the band's harmonic backup vocals, frontman Tony Kovacs belts out compelling themes of personal endeavor, uprising, and self-realization. Shot Baker isn't here to mix genres, hop on what's popular, or capture a sound. They're here to play music that drives them. It's this simplified way of raw aggression, anger, passion, and love for the music that makes them such a refreshing act to see these days.
THE LEFTOVERS Website
The Leftovers play punk influenced rock n' roll with lots of power pop goodness referencing bands like The Queers, The Romatics, and (of course) The Ramones.

THRONES
THRONESWebsite
Thrones is the name for former Melvins and Earth bassist Joe Preston's solo project. Preston manages to imbue every song with a modicum of uniqueness. Preston seems satisfied cooking up some of the weirdest house-quaking noise yet heard, rather than creating a unified, coherent statement for all to marvel at. And it's this lack of lofty ambition that actually makes his music work.
MR RUSSIA Website Listen
Energetic, powerful, furious--MR RUSSIA is the band your mother warned you about. A combo of relentless rhythm, solid bass and cocky vocals might be described as the bastard offspring of Iggy Pop and The White Stripes. This two-piece pounds pure bantam rock, underlaid with alarmingly slick drumming and capped with a brash, sardonic frontman. Those in-the-know will be immediately reminded of Shellac and Death From Above 1979.

THE OCEAN
THE OCEANWebsite
The Ocean Collective’s oftentimes deeply convoluted compositions sweep across dismal landscapes shaped by faceless modern archi-tecture and symbols of power looming large on all horizons, tearing up the asphalt of our cities’ streets with berserk drum-attacks, at times pausing for a minatorial instant, granting the battered listener a short moment to breathe in the foul odor of panic, before winding up again, with deafening noise and sparks flying all across the stage, into the black city night’s skies.
KYLESA Website
Savannah, Georgia's KYLESA return with two new tracks of head crushing metallic punk mayhem. After relentlessly touring the US in 2002, the band has been concentrating on new material since their 2001 debut LP .Two new songs " No ending" and " 110 degree Heat Index" showcase KYLESA'S genre defying scope - metal? punk? crust? rock? - yet undeniably unique and powerful.
LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR Website
Emerging from the caustic burrows of Chicago comes the monolith of metal called Lair of the Minotaur. Formed by Steven Rathbone in early 2003 on the heels of his band 7000 Dying Rats saying farewell to their infamous live performances and vowing to only release studio recordings. He enlisted DJ Barraca (also from 7000 Dying Rats) on bass and longtime friend Weasel Walter (from Skin Graft records noise masters Flying Luttenbachers) on drums. The intent was to make crushing heavy metal, each song telling a different tale from Greek mythology. With a nod to the forefathers of the genre; Black Sabbath, Celtic Frost, Venom & Slayer. Lair of the Minotaur takes their vision of barbaric sonic aggression and redesigns the mold.
WITHERED Website
Withered specializes in early Swedish death influenced black/grind/doom metal with intent to explore the darker attributes of mortality and its effects on the psyche. Withered has been stirring up a frenzy in the US and Europe supporting the likes of Mastodon, Exhumed, Total Fucking Destruction, Misery Index, Neuraxis, Weedeater, High On Fire and others.

LO/FI PIONEERWebsite Listen
Started from a 4-track tape recorder in the corner of studio apartment, Aryk Crowder began laying the groundwork for what would later become lo/fi pioneer. Drawing influences from R&B greats Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, Crowder set out to cultivate a refreshing sound, free of electronics and true to soul – pioneering organic blends of pop and funk through lo fidelity means.
THE SECONDARY Website
The Secondary is a band that embraces its diversity to produce a unique style of music. | MUDHONEY |
MUDHONEYWebsite
Redefining stripped-down, “back 2 basics” ramalama, Mudhoney’s new one is deliberately and aggressively raw. It sounds as lean and as full-on as any modern equivalent one cares to mention. Recorded in a scant 3.5 days (including overdubs) with Tucker Martine (who also recorded four songs on the previous album), Mudhoney went in armed with a batch of new material expecting to spend a fair amount of time getting it right. Bang—and bang again after some mixing—and a new album was birthed in record time, faster than anything else the band’s done to date.
EASY ACTION Website
Rocking with a scowling, felonious ease, Easy Action creates a dark world illuminated by glaring white noise. Their native Detroit is a historical wellspring of musical damage and the men of Easy Action brandish the seamy, steamy sounds of downtown. Easy Action has a grim and gritty real-life feel, the outlaw kind that rockers like Keith Richards, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash know so well.
THE FAKE FICTIONS Website Listen
The Fake Fictions have been building a reputation for sharp hooks, good times and an insanely fun live show since forming in Chicago in April 2004. Nick and Sarah (on guitar and bass respectively) write raw and catchy pop songs with alternating boy/girl vocals, while Ben provides a pulsing backbeat that ties together the three-piece's hook-laden melodies. With a sound that references new wave, garage rock, and pure pop, the Fake Fictions bring a fun and nostalgic sound; the perfect soundtrack for the last day of school or dry-humping in your parents' basement.

THE VANDON ARMSWebsite
The Vandon Arms began in late 2005 when Aaron Buzbee (a.k.a. 'Buz') and Clint Meek decided to form a band based off of the simple idea of playing music they loved with their good friends. Their unique sound was a pleasant surprise to many in their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, pulling their sound from punk music as well as traditional irish music.
WARSAW POLAND BROS Website Listen
Warsaw Poland Bros. have played everywhere, with everyone in most of North America and Hawaii. They have released four nationally distributed cds through Burnside Distribution fueled by their own indie start up label, Invisible Mass Records. Their love for live performance and touring has kept them on the road for over eight years. Jumping from town to town, night after night, their hoby-job-lifestyle has been their soul, mantra and reason to share their music. To call this band the hardest working band in the business would be a drastic understatement. With over 300 shows a year, multiple gigs a day and merely days off in between they are true road dogs. They have gone through many changes since the original lineup, but they've never slowed down. Warsaw is the ultimate definition of the DIY attitude, taking everything in-house from booking to engineering and producing their music. Since collaborating with people all over the world and recording in every setting imaginable, from a backstage green room to the Warsaw 1 (Warsaw's van), Warsaw infuses the Invisible Mass label with international talent. With their dedicated street team, their unmatchable live show and talent, Warsaw is a testament to an unmatchable DIY lifestyle. Warsaw also offers assistance in the areas of booking, pre and post production, street team, and brings the best party to your town!

LUCID GROUND
LUCID GROUNDWebsite
Lucid Ground is heavy, melodic, radio-friendly modern rock. Immediately catchy. With their pummeling rhythm and thick bass they lay a foundation for huge hooks and biting guitar grit.
V.SPARKS Website
Chicago based quartet who it seems know a thing or two about spanking good tuneage - describing themselves in the ‘sounds like’ section as ‘72’ - well they ain’t kidding because these cuts really do sound like they’ve been cultured in a rose tinted era that was so much seemingly innocent and carefree than today, a time of tank tops, glitter, big hair, cheap aftershave, satin, androgyny and platform boots. Blending 50’s styled popsicle bubblegum accents with audaciously humungous hooks, V Sparks craft teasingly feel good pop epics that hone in on - with unfailing precision - past conquests conceived by the likes of Sweet, T-Rex, Quattro and Wizard and into the bargain deliver up quite possibly one of the most fashionably out of step things we’ve heard since the Eskimos ‘something must be transmitted somehow’ and last years incredible ‘secrets of the witching hour’ by the Crimea which all said and done was our favourite moment of the year by far.
KELROY Website
KELROY was concieved in Chicago by 6 fellows who, in early 2007, decided friendship wasn’t enough, so they rented out a space, turned up the volume on their electric kazoo’z and started writing original music (minus the kazoo’s). In Kelroy’s short existence, the band has already performed in various Chicago landmark venues and was well recieved in MobFest. A video to accompany "Suprise with a fold" is now here for your juicy eyeballs. An album will be available for your waxy ear canals by the end of the summer, so stay tuned. Check back for upcoming performances!
ECHO SOUND Website Listen
Echo Son was formed in early 2006 by three musicians who shared the same vision. That vision was to create complex progressive hard rock... a sound that is dark, primal and sludgy and infuses odd time signatures with grinding guitars and pounding, driving rhythms. In 2008 Echo Son will usher in a new realm of exhilarating live performances and intelligent songs to the greater Chicago area.

Scott ran into Jamey after his UFC championship fight, in which he lost. Jamey was upset and vulnerable from the loss he just endured, so he agreed to start a band with him.

The first person to show up was Ray, a scientist who was made famous from his invention of batteries. He came to try out, then informed the three that he was the new bass player, thus forming Moving Target.

THE ACACIA STRAIN
THE ACACIA STRAINWebsite Listen
The Acacia Strain have proved its intense and unforgiving musical tonnage has not compromised the band's lyrical and aural integrity. The Dead Walk has The Acacia Strain making a social critique on the lull in cultural comfort, all the while displaying the bandís brutal heaviness alongside an uncanny, mosh-worthy sense of rhythm. The result: some of contemporary metalís heaviest and hardest songs, without ever losing sight of the band's original goals.
ALL SHALL PERISH Website
Death metal and technical grind have an interesting way of co-existing. While each genre shares characteristics with the other it would seem that many bands would rather stay narrow in scope and keep the two as oil and water. However some outstanding young acts in the last few years have managed to rejuvenate the underground by encompassing more of extreme metal’s tangents and delivering some very impacting and fresh ideas into a seemingly over-cooked stew. Despised Icon, Beneath The Massacre, Leng Tch’e and others have thrown all caution (and rules) into the wind and are re-defining the death and grind genres with vibrant ideas and unrelenting delivery. Oakland’s ALL SHALL PERISH are cut from that same jib; delivering brutal music that possesses a natural need to experiment and push the boundaries of the extreme underground. Their second offering, The Price Of Existence, will turn the death metal and underground hordes on their collective ear, and when all is said and done the band is sure to be touted as one of the best young extreme acts from the West Coast in this new millennium.
THE WARRIORS Website
Southern California's newest buzz band. Uplifiting and hard-hitting intelligent hardcore with a healthy dose of RATM thrown into the mix.
SINCE THE FLOOD Website
They are five unhappy-looking guys who love wearing black t-shirts of other bands also made up of unhappy guys in black t-shirts. They pose for LOTS of band photos and seem very proud of their tattoos. POWERSPACE
1997 Website Listen
Throughout their still brief history, 1997's sound has been compared by fans and critics to bands ranging from Promise Ring, Acceptance and Mineral to Mates of State, The Get Up Kids, and Jimmy Eat World. While comparisons certainly can be made, such a description fails to describe the atmosphere of a stuffy attic apartment as it became flooded with the heartfelt sounds of acoustic guitars and passionate voices. It was this humble prelude that would soon give way to the current musical force that is 1997. With inventive songwriting, expressive lyrical content, thrilling harmony, intricate musicianship, and a live performance that blows minds and breaks hearts, it comes as no surprise that critics and fans agree 1997 has a very bright future ahead of them.

QWELWebsite Listen
Qwel came upon the hip hop scene with a vengeance. He began as a prolific graff writer in the late 90's with various crews around Chicago, and picked up rhyming by jumping in battle ciphers with Chicago's Nacrobats crew. Rapping along side local MC's ultimately brought Qwel to Wednesday nights at WHPK, a legendary Chicago hotbed for radio freestyle battles. It was a forum for anyone with a passion for hip hop to come and test their skills against the best the city had to offer. Here is where Qwel met up with then host DJ Natural, and MC's Qwazaar & Denizen Kane. The foursome quickly recognized each others talents, and decided they should collaborate. They began working on a group project under the name Typical Cats.

VOODOO GLOW SKULLSWebsite Listen
In their sixteen years of existence, the Voodoo Glow Skulls have an impressive list of achievements. Seven albums, one million records sold, appearances in exotic locations like Brazil and Japan as well as the creation of a record store, record label, recording studio and a music venue attests to the remarkable creativity and energy of the band. Formed in 1988, Voodoo Glow Skulls meshed hardcore punk, traditional ska, tough guitar riffs and the Mexican music of their roots to create the prototype for the West Coast ska-core sound, influencing a wide range of bands from Sublime to No Doubt. Unflinchingly honest, their songs often used humor to comment on harsh political realities from racial inequity to unrest overseas. Singing in both Spanish and English, Voodoo Glow Skulls bilingual musical tradition has been a hallmark of the band since they began.
WHOLE WHEAT BREAD Website Listen
What Eminem did for rap, Whole Wheat Bread is doing for punk rock: proving music crosses cultural and racial divides. All three members of the Jacksonville-based band are talented musicians with an irreverent attitude that harkens to the days of Johnny Rotten. They are also black. According to Nicholas Largen, the band's back-up vocalist and guitar/bass player, WWB catches a lot of concert-goers off guard

RULE 22 Website
Hailing from the Chicago area, Rule 22 is a melodic, in your face ska-punk trio. Since 2001 they've created a style that sounds like a riot in a church, choc full of hooks, energy and melodic fury. Their lyrics are catchy, clever and spit fire about religion, crooked politicians, strife, joy and conflict. To date, Rule 22 has released 2 full length albums and just recently, a ten-song split with fellow Chicago punk band, She Likes Todd. They have been featured on a number of compilations, nationally and internationally and are played regularly on numerous online radio stations as well as Rancid-Radio on XM. Rule 22 has toured the Midwest, Central and West Coast United States as well as a Canadian tour in 2006, and Warped Tour 07', having played a total of 303 shows as of 10/16/07.

THE CANNANESWebsite Listen
Since the Cannanes' first release 'Bored Angry and Jealous' was named Single of the Year by UK music magazine NME in late 1986, the band has attracted an ever expanding international following. Based in Sydney Australia the band has had a lengthy recording career and toured extensively in Australia and completed six tours of the USA. They've played at The Knitting Factory and Maxwells in New York and as far afield as Nashville, Tennessee and Olympia. While in Chicago two members of the band recorded a number of songs with punk legend Mark Perry under the watchful eye of Steve Albini. The 1998 tour took them to Japan for the first time, and in 1999 they completed their 1st World Tour with shows in England, Scotland, Germany, Holland, U.S., Canada & Japan. A definite highlight of this tour was the honour of playing at the 3rd Yoyo festival held in Olympia (Washington State). 2000 - 2001 saw two more US tours (East then West) and a swag of new releases including the exceptionally well received 'Communicating at an unknown rate'. Many releases have achieved widespread airplay, particularly on US College Radio hitting number one on numerous charts as well as appearances in CMJs' top 100. They have rated extensive mentions in SPIN Alternative Record Guide, Trouser Press Guide to 90's Rock, Virgin Encyclopedia of Indie & New Wave, The Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and in 1997 co-published with Woozy magazine their own autobiography 'Baby Take a Bow' in the UK.
MOTO Website
Since 1988 M.O.T.O has mined an area of punk music that doesn't lend itself easily to vast commercial success. Think Ramones with more and better jokes. Of course, punk music is more known for its rebellion and political stances than its comedy. M.O.T.O just might not fly with some of the more humorless in the punk crowd. And certainly not with commercial radio. This is not to say that you won't find social commentary on a M.O.T.O. album. It just flies by so fast that you might miss it if you blink.

THE ROTTEN FRUITSWebsite
Catch the spanking queer band, The Rotten Fruits, and experience a late '70's flashback. Scruffy and raw, they rile up the kids. Not because the Fruits were dolled up, but because the attitude was blunt "throw-it-on-the-floor-fuck-m'-honey" with a vengence. You could take them as a gloppy flaming mess, but that would be missing the point - the Fruits' raw sloppiness, in-your-face cheekiness and lewd defiance is the kind of carnal concept that some would say guarantees a one-way ticket straight to hell in a flaming chariot. Let's go!
DEAD TOWN REVIVAL Website
Hailing from the working-class streets of the south side of Chicago, Dead Town Revival is a self-described "punk-n-roll" band with a wide ranging list of influences from punk staples such as The Misfits and Social Distortion to rock legends Led Zeppelin and country hero Johnny Cash. Inspired by angst, guns, and rock and roll, Dead Town Revival's driving melodic music speaks of love lost, hard luck and a complete disdain for authority.
THE MASSACRES Website
In the beginning, The Massacres were an unmarked grave in a sea of headstones. The first corpse to be exhumed was Kevin Massacre, closely followed by B.J. - bass-player of ultimate doooom, and with that, The Massacres were 'born'. Shortly after, numerous guitarists were auditioned in the hopes of winning a place in the band. None of them seemed to click. It was then that a worthy six-stringer came along in the shape of Mickey T. Craft. Slowly, but very surely, the pieces started to fall into place and a new name was being carved onto the headstone. Rehearsals came and went and the three of them decided that none of them had the voice for the job. Cue appearances by The Machetti and Hoagy. Hoagy, originally from the UK, was found lurking in a dark alley downtown, and Machetti was air-dropped in from a corps(e) of flying fiends, but thats another story...With the line-up finally completed, The Massacres began pulling together a roster of fresh from the graveyard songs, they soon took over Chicago, and have begun to take on the rest of world. Consider yourself warned.
HOTLIPS MESSIAH Website
With fists in the air and legs akimbo, the drunk, cursing, costumed misfits of Hot Lips Messiah are clearly Chicago's punk-rock saviors, here to invigorate the spirit and deliver us from sin. The sloppy, snarly, old-school quintet delivers an anarchic gospel of catchy, two-minute anthems whose almost-pretty keyboard melodies and damaging guitar riffs' inhuman speed whip lead vocalist Traci Trouble's defiant shrieking into a genuine frenzy. - Flavorpill Chicago

DESTRUCTOR Website
Cleveland, Ohio's Destructor was a secondary 1980s thrash metal band whose brief career was curtailed by tragedy. Formed in 1983 by spectacularly renamed members Dave Overkill (vocals/guitar), Pat Rabid (guitar), Paul Warhead (bass), and perhaps best of all, Matt Flammable (drums), Destructor jumped the thrash metal bandwagon hot on the heels of pioneers like Metallica and Slayer. They were handed a record contract by local independent Auburn Records after their very first show in 1984, and new bassist Dave Holocaust (nee Janieca) joined in time for their first studio sessions. These were initially slated to produce an EP, but it quickly expanded into a full-length album called Maximum Destruction, released in 1985. Although pretty rough around the edges, the album was big on promise and well received by the metal underground, eventually leading to a joint venture being struck between Auburn and major label Island for Destructor's next effort. Work on said album -- tentatively entitled Decibel Casualties -- began in late 1987, but, tragically, Dave Holocaust was stabbed to death on January 1, 1988; and when their Island deal fell through, Destructor decided to call it a day rather than carry on without their slain friend. No more was heard from the band until 1999, when, amazingly, the re-release of Maximum Destruction by Listenable Records (featuring portions of the aborted second LP sessions) sparked the surviving members back into action. 2002's Sonic Bullet album (rehashing plenty of unreleased- '80s material) was the result, and counted on the help of bassist Jamie Boulder (aka Jamie Walters) of the band Boulder. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide

DINO FELIPE Website Listen
Who is Dino Felipe? That question is easily answered. He's a 23 year old artist straddling the latitudinal stretch between Miami and Atlanta (home of other Schematic artists Richard Devine and Delarosa and Asora). No mystery in that? The real question is -- Who is Flim Toby? Flim Toby first appeared on a cassette released by the American Tapes label in 2001. The cassette was a recording of tape music, 4-track collages, and toy compositions created by one Dino Felipe Delavega. Flim Toby is a film. A 'scrambled up film in the shape of a person', to be exact. His whole life is displayed in the pictures on the surface of his skin, so he has nothing to hide. Nor does he have anything to say, it's all evident -- sort of an overstated interpretation of the life of an artist. During the recording of Flim Toby, Dino Felipe was 'obsessed with nature, life, and organisms', so he crafted collages out of untouched 'pictures' of sound. Samples of everything that touched him went into the mixture, from his neighborhood feathered friends, to archived childhood recordings, constructed by an expert machine operator and rhythmatist, with the natural, unsyncopated touch of a free jazz musician. Does all this sound familiar? Flim Toby doesn't unless you're Dino. It is his life in pictures and sound, though you may feel as if some of his memories are yours. You may see yourself in the pictures that Flim Toby is comprised of. If you do, then you just might have a new friend and a new soundtrack for a while. Beats? Yes. Music? Yes, a lot of that. Noise? Yes, that too. Intense? Sometimes. Mellow? Sometimes. Soulful? Definitely. Schematic? Definitely.

FAR FROM FINISHED Website Listen
Like six people emerging out of a Charles Bukowski story, Far From Finished rises from the pages to remind you just how messed up life is and just how dangerously humorous our filthy little secrets and insecurities can be. They blaze the tragic line between shame and comfort, leaving no one safe along the way. Every song leads you through a story, an opinion, or cry for help. You're brought back to a time where every breath you drew was innocence, as you fall with every minor and rise with every major.
The story of Far From Finished begins in New York. They're your average kids saying grabbing the world by the balls. They're here, they're messed up, it's their own fault, and they love it.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT HEROES Website
Edmonton based punk band, The Wednesday Night Heroes have been taking the Canadian underground by storm since their 1997 inception. The name, chosen to essentially immortalize the mandate of fun and positivity, comes from a quote overheard from Dee Snider (of the famed American band, Twisted Sister) in an Edmonton nightclub where he preached that "…it doesn't matter what day of the week it is, because if you really want to let loose, you'll do it without concern for tomorrow." The live-for-now attitude is the real power behind the band and more importantly the motivation for the high-flying stage show and energetic sound. Lyrically, the songwriting is propelled by a sense of urgency and social consciousness that embodies the rallying call for all disaffected youth. With blistering guitar work accompanied by a rock solid war-like rhythm section, this is truly intense music for the people.
