At the depths of the earth substances of a repulsive nature dwell. Over millions of years creatures have disintegrated and decayed until taking on ghastly new life as petroleum. Like a return of the undead, petroleum has wrought cross-cultural conflict, environmental pollution, and economic distress. “In The Flesh” re-interprets petroleum’s sinister insinuation into our everyday lives.
Attic Salt is a band from Springfield, IL. Fred Malcom (drums), Andy Harmon (guitar/vocals), and Alyssa Currie (guitar/vocals) started playing together in late 2015. Lanny Durbin (bass) joined up in early 2017. Our first full length album (S/T) is out now.

Barry J. Fontenot is a Louisiana-born, Chicago-based soul musician with a love of pushing boundaries and a flair for the dramatic. Raised in the “Deep Soul” and “Delta Blues” musical traditions, Barry’s vocal style brings to mind the strong, rich tenor notes of legendary singers such as Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. In his original compositions, however, Barry reveals the eclectic influences that have followed him throughout his musical journey—he strives, in his own words, to “write em’ like Jazz songs, play em’ like Rock songs, and sing em’ like Soul songs.”
Originally a Classical Tenor specializing in choral music, Barry decided to return to his musical roots in 2013, forming a Soul Band called “Barry Fontenot and the Hurricanes,” which performed mostly covers of the great Motown performers who had so inspired him in his youth. In 2014, while drunk and bleeding in Mexico, Barry wrote his first original song, “Desiree.” While the circumstances surrounding the song’s writing were less than glamourous, as Barry himself often explains (at-length) on stage, the experience of writing and performing original music was one that affected him to the extent that he now performs primarily his own songs, and has written upwards of three hours of performance material.
Upon moving to Chicago, Barry met The Fountains members, together they created a solid bond, smoothly complementing Barry’s voice and songs. Barry and The Fountains performing regularly in different venues and events around Chicagoland. Their debut single is about to be released soon.

Klack is the “New New Beat” project of Madison, Wisconsin’s Eric Oehler and Matt Fanale. Klack released Synthesizer as a one-off collaboration in 2017, receiving significant acclaim and fanfare amongst fans of early EBM and New Beat, and also from the Berlin techno community. Klack went to work and two months later released their debut EP ‘Do You Klack?’ to even more acclaim.
CONFORMCO, not trading on NASDAQ as (CNFCO), is led by the innovative investors of CEO Sean Payne, the venture capitalist behind such industrial corporations as Cyanotic and Vampyre Anvil and Chairman Chris Harris who’s firm, PROJECT .44, was acquired by Invisible Records in the early 2000’s; but after an internal insurrection, was eventually returned to its rightful owners after several years of corporate ownership. Board member/collaborates include Jim Marcus (Die Warzau/Go Fight!) and Charles Levi (Thrill Kill Kult/Pigface).
The heavy metal scene in San Antonio, TX was in full swing. Books have been written about the phenomenon. College courses were created to study it. Amongst the hordes of chaos, were the thrash warlords, Valkyrie. After releasing a cult classic demo, and playing shows throughout the state of Texas for a three year stint, they simply vanished.
Joe Gregory went on to get a finance degree from UTSA, start a family and is the author of six novels.
Scott Stine went on to play with multiple high profile touring acts. He was a Shrapnel Recording Artist whose album “Broke” received worldwide recognition and was featured on Liquid Note Records Compilation CD “The Alchemists” spotlighting 27 of the world’s greatest guitarists. He’s a clinician and pioneer for Ibanez’s 7 string guitars. Also, under the Shrapnel label, he contributed, wrote and performed with Crimeny, Haji’s Kitchen, Eniac Requim, and Tommy Lamey. Scott’s endorsements include Ibanez, Rocktron, Hughes and Kettner, SIT Strings, and Swiss Picks. For the last twenty years, Scott co-wrote, arranged/produced, and recorded several CD’s for his church. He still plays weekly for church services, weddings and various jazz ensembles and tribute bands.
In 2018, a renewed interest for San Antonio heavy metal bands, mainly from the eighties, progressed to a resurgence of local bands getting back together and performing again. Missing the good old days and camaraderie, Joe contacted Scott to see if he had any interest in performing or recording again. Thankfully, Scott said, yes! Needless to say, Valkyrie had unfinished business to tend to and release a proper offering for their fans. With that, the Choosers of the Slain EP was recorded and released in 2019 to the delight and praise of fans and critics alike.

The Lay-Down Ramblers are a Chicago-based five-piece progressive Electric blues band (2 guitars, drums, bass, vocals/harmonica) , with some pop, rock, and country thrown into the mix. Although the Ramblers formed relatively recently (Fall 2018) after crossing paths at Chicago’s famous Old Town School of Folk Music, , the members have long performance histories that include national and international tours. Richard P. Bennett, who fronts the band, has sung at venues such as the Kennedy Center Opera House, Lincoln Center, and on and Off-Broadway. The Ramblers put their own spin on some classic songs and have a few cool originals they like to share, too. The 3rd Sunday String Band plays Old Time music — Appalachian and Midwestern fiddle tunes and songs, as well as a selection of early Country, Folk, and Bluegrass songs.
The band had its beginnings in the summer of 2002 as a monthly jam organized organized by students from the Old Town School of Folk music. Initially, the jam was held every 3rd Sunday of the month in Grant Park in Chicago.
As time went on, we began meeting weekly to build up a repertoire. Being a very inclusive lot, our numbers soon swelled, and since then the group has included from ten to fifteen members at any given moment, playing various combinations of fiddles, mandolins, banjos, guitars, upright bass, and flutes & whistles.

Return of Saturn is the fourth studio album by American rock band No Doubt. It was released on April 11, 2000, by Trauma Records and Interscope Records. It marked the band’s first album as a quartet, following the departure of original keyboardist Eric Stefani in 1994. After touring for two and a half years to promote their breakthrough third studio album, Tragic Kingdom (1995), No Doubt wrote several dozen songs for its follow-up and eventually settled on working with producer Glen Ballard. Creating the album became a tumultuous process lasting two years, during which there was dissension among band members and between the band and its label. The album was completed after the band returned to the studio and recorded what became two of its singles.
The album maintains the ska punk and reggae influences of the band’s previous work, but with slower, more ballad-like songs. The lyrics to many of the songs describe singer Gwen Stefani’s pining for a more domestic life, contrasting that with her commitment to a music career.
Big and moody, Staring at the Sea compiles some hits and near misses of these excavators of the dark soul. Beginning with their earliest hits–the sparse “Killing an Arab,” the aptly tedious “10:15 Saturday Night,” and the charming “Boys Don’t Cry”–this collection stops before the comparative giddiness of Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me.
Musicians first, brooding art types second, The Cure’s unique instrumentation doesn’t get the credit it rightfully deserves. The thrashy, trash-can break in “Jumping Someone Else’s Train,” the sprightly synthesized recorder of “Close to Me,” and the techno-pop disco lines in “Let’s Go to Bed” and “The Walk” are downright brilliant in their effectiveness and simplicity. Riot! is the second studio album by American rock band Paramore. It was released in the United States on June 12, 2007 through Fueled by Ramen as a follow-up to their debut album, All We Know Is Falling (2005). The album was produced by David Bendeth and written by band members Hayley Williams and Josh Farro, with Bendeth, and fellow member Zac Farro co-writing on select tracks. The album is said to explore a “diverse range of styles,” while not straying far from the “signature sound” of their debut album, with several critics comparing it to likes of Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. Enema of the State is the third studio album by American rock band Blink-182, released on June 1, 1999, by MCA Records. After a long series of performances at various clubs and festivals and several indie recordings throughout the 1990s, Blink-182 first achieved popularity on the Warped Tour and in Australia following the release of their second album Dude Ranch (1997) and its rock radio hit “Dammit”. To record their third album, Blink-182 turned to veteran punk rock producer Jerry Finn, who previously worked on Green Day’s breakthrough album Dookie (1994). Enema was the band’s first album to feature second drummer Travis Barker, who replaced original drummer Scott Raynor.
Low-Life is the third studio album by English rock band New Order, released on 13 May 1985 by Factory Records. It is considered to be among the band’s strongest work, displaying the moment they completed their transformation from post-punk hold-overs to dance-rockers. The album shows New Order’s increased incorporation of synthesisers and samplers, while still preserving the rock elements of their earlier work. The original Factory CD issues of the album were mastered with pre-emphasis.

Organist, Brian Charette is a Hammond and IK Multimedia endorsed, Steeplechase and Positone recording artist, currently #3 on the Downbeat Critic’s Poll. He is also the 2014 Downbeat Rising Star, and 2015 Best Organist in NYC from Hothouse Magazine. Charette plays with many well known jazz artists like NEA master George Coleman and pop icons like Chaka Khan and is known for his technical command of the organ and memorable funky tunes with swirling electronica. He will be joined by Jordan Young on the drums and Dave Miller on guitar. Young is a Detroit native and fellow Positone label mate. He is Charette’s right hand man playing on most of his US tours. Dave Miller is a local hero with a soulful tone and meaningful melodic approach which will add just the right vibe to the greasy, funky set.
Charette was born in Meriden, Connecticut in 1972, and was introduced to music by his mother, Catherine. By the age of 17, he was playing with jazz luminaries such as Lou Donaldson and Houston Person. Since graduating on the Dean’s List from UConn in 1994 with a BA in Music, Charette has been performing extensively in Europe and the USA with his home base being the East Village, NYC. Brian is a staple of the downtown NYC scene working with virtually everyone who plays with an organist.
Besides being a critically acclaimed composer and bandleader, Brian has performed with many notable artists such as Joni Mitchell, Chaka Khan, Paul Simon, Cyndi Lauper, and many more. Charette is also an active author and educator, writing for Keyboard Magazine, The New York City Jazz Record, DownBeat, and the Czech magazine, Muzikus. Brian teaches masterclasses all over the world and is on the faculty of the Czech Summer Jazz Workshop at Jesek Conservatory in Prague. His first book, 101 Hammond B3 Tips, released through publisher Hal Leonard, has become very popular, as well as his videos on the website, mymusicmasterclass.com.

Hey y’all, Gillian here! I’m a musician, bartender and yoga teacher in Chicago. I came to yoga a few years ago as a skeptic, but over time, it has become one of the most important parts of my life. To me, yoga is all about connecting your mind, body and breath together to energize, restore and heal yourself. My goal is to make yoga more approachable for beginners or skeptics (particularly folks in the music and service industries) and show them what a powerful tool it can be as joyful movement, self-care and self-study. By bringing yoga to spaces that that we know and love (like Reggies or the lakefront), we can explore the practice in an environment that makes it less intimidating! Dissonance & Dissent is a political ska-punk band from West Lafayette, IN. Finding themselves in ever shrinking scene/genre, the group tries to keep the spirit of punk, skacore, and ska alive, while also branding it with their own unique stamp. With politically charged lyrics, the angst, speed and aggression of punk, the catchiness of ska, and a high level of musical complexity rare in both punk and ska, the band hopes to leave their mark with the music they create; Wishing to not only influence and help re-spark the genres and local music scene, but also promote social and political awareness.

Extinguish the Sun formed in the Fall of 2015, emerging out of members of three fairly disparate local acts, chapter seven, Trippin Molly, and Panic Stations.
After releasing their first full-length, Antihero, the band played numerous shows. In the wake of releasing this record, EtS have played in and around the Dixon–Sterling–Rock Falls area with various diverse acts. Beyond playing shows in their immediate area, EtS recorded a session with Carl Nelson in DeKalb for WNIJ’s local music showcase, Sessions from Studio A. The band have also worked to extend their reach to other Midwest cities and bring their music before broader and more diverse audiences.
Around 1 ½ years after the release of Antihero, in January of 2019, they entered Straightaway Productions with local engineer Drew Widolff to record their EP, Oceans, slated to be released later in 2019. Comprised of six tracks of completely new material, this EP shows the band in their true form, experimenting, evolving, and honing their sound, but always remaining true to their initial intent of intensity, melody, and originality.
As 2019 unfolds, guitarists Nick Grobe and Jeremy Toms, bassist Daniel Edmunds, singer Jeremy Miller, and drummer Michael Morley have continued rehearsing and writing songs. With a broad range of influences and musical tastes, EtS work to continue writing compelling songs and releasing them, getting out and performing live as much as possible.
EtS continue booking shows and laying out their schedule for the coming year. You can surely expect to see them in a basement | garage | punk hovel near you soon.

They’ve played all around Texas for the showcases of the awards, and they also played as the house band at the famous after party at the Continental Club, backing artists like James Hand, James Intveld, Chris Casello, Rosie Flores, Joel Paterson, AdamLopez, Dale Watson, Jack Grelle, Ags Connolly, Marti Brom, Pat May, and many many others…
They even played at the famous Broken Spoke, at the Big T Roadhouse, at the C-Boys (hosting, in both places, the world famous “Chicken Shit Bingo”), at the ABGB. They also played their own show at both the Continental Clubs in Austin and in Houston. And they even did an intimate show into the Western Flyers’ house, in front of the bosses of the Bob Wills Association (a community for the preservation of the western swing music all over the world, created by Bob Wills’ daughter).
