SOVIET SHIKSA is the amalgamation of late nights watching horror movies, apathetic stand up routines and an ever evolving roster of personal heroes that may or may not be dead already. Screams fill your ears while gasoline and sweat permeate the air. Evoking thoughts of murder, wet dreams, and an overwhelming sense of doom.

From the ashes of Curio (2009-2019) comes Wendigo Fever; a country twang-infused rock n’ roll outfit from Chicago. In 2024, songwriter Chris Pluska assembled long-time collaborators Donovan Foote (bass) and Gary Landess (drums) to flesh out a project that had been kicking around since the pandemic. Inspired by and using the themes of the Native American folklore surrounding the Wendigo, a supernatural creature that stands as a cautionary tale against selfishness and isolation, the band conjures a feral sound with songs about loss, temptation, and the struggles within.
